Grigori Perelman is a Russian mathematician who is best known for his work on the Poincaré conjecture, a famous problem in topology. In 2006, Perelman was awarded the Fields Medal, one of the highest honors in mathematics, for his contributions to geometry and his resolution of the Poincaré conjecture but he refused to accept a Fields Medal and the $1,000,000 Clay Prize.
When they asked him why he refused the million dollars he said: "Emptiness is everywhere and it can be calculated, which gives us a great opportunity.
I know how to control the universe. So tell me, why should I run for a million?".
He also stated several times: "I didn't make these discoveries for fame or money, if I had wanted money in life I would have gotten it." Grigori is considered one of the Top 10 highest IQ on the planet, with a QI of 238.
Perelman is currently jobless and lives with his mother and sister in a small flat in St Petersburg.
He had refuses many times to talk to the journalists camped outside his home. A legend say that one journalist who managed to reach him on his mobile phone was told:
"You are disturbing me. I am picking mushrooms." Many of his neighborhood says:
"He always wears the same tatty coat and trousers. He never cuts his nails or beard.
When he walks he simply stares at the ground, rather than looking from side to side," one told a Moscow newspaper.
