Hello everyone and welcome to my newest book review for the week.
Wow, this one was one that packed a punch from female Japanese author Mieko Kawakami. I was recommended this book by a viewer who mentioned that I may enjoy her stories from the female perspective - and I did. Thank YOU!
It was also interesting to read the backstory of Kawakami who challenged author Haruki Murakami (one of my favourite authors) for his representation of females in his books. It's well worth doing a Google search and seeing what was said and why. Of note, Murakami is a great supporter of her works. Is there a change happening in Japanese society? Maybe yes, maybe no but it's fair to say that Kawakami is challenging - and fighting against the stereotypes.
An author who I will be reading more.
