The Red Eagle Aerobatic Team from the Aviation University of the PLA Air Force on Sunday practiced their jaw-dropping aerobatic stunts before the 13th China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition (Airshow China), which is scheduled for Sept. 28-Oct. 3 in Zhuhai, south China's Guangdong Province.

During the airshow, the Red Eagle team will present the artistic-appealing ballet in the air. When performing the highly difficult movements, they have to withstand the tests by the extreme.

Not every person has a chance to pilot an airplane, especially at such a high-level airshow. Only the camera provides viewers with the first-hand pictures of their performance.

According to Guo Anquan, one of the pilots of the Red Eagle Team, the flying speed reached some 600 kilometers per hour when performing the aerobatic movements. That poses great challenges to pilots' ability to drive the aircraft stably.

Pilots need to face their extreme physical limits, while at the same time performing a sequence of exhilarating aerobatic figures, Guo added.

"The plane looks flying stably when viewed from outside. In fact, the joystick was clicking fast to adjust the distance of the interval. When the airplane is doing the somersaults, it requires a bigger payload, usually five, and the pilot's face may be deformed. It amounts to five your body weight pressing upon you. It's very difficult," Guo said.

Another difficulty is to emit the dazzling colorful smoke trails. The 32-minute performance has made the pilots wet with sweat, with hands becoming rigid.

"If flying too close, you may encounter the air current or may not cooperate will, thus resulting in collision. Here is a limit. The second is the limit of the vertical movement. If you fly too high, it is not clear in the sky. If you fly too low, it could end up in hitting the ground," said Wang.
