In this video, we take a tour of Justin's incredible 12-gallon iwagumi-style aquascape. This high-tech setup makes use of pearlweed, Hemianthus Micranthemoides, as a carpeting plant rather than the typical types of carpeting plants. Instead of using plants like dwarf hairgrass, monte carlo, or dwarf baby tears, Justin makes use of heavily trimmed pearlweed. Under high light and heavy CO2, pearlweed will put out runners instead of upward growth—with the addition of regular trimming, the pearlweed learns to stay close to the substrate floor.
