Team USA dominated in the pool again Friday, as Missy, Ledecky, and Phelpsy all won gold to help America hold their lead over China by in the count.The U.S. heads in to week two with 43 total medals: 21 golds, 10 silver, and 12 bronze.
We'll have to figure out how to make up for Michael Phelps and his medals when he retires following London. He won his fifth of the Games Friday with gold in the 100m butterfly, this time coming from seventh at the turn before shooting past the field for the largest margin of his three consecutive Olympic victories in the event.
Missy Franklin tossed in a world record along with gold in the 200m back, beating the yellow line by nearly a body length, while Elizabeth Beisel grabbed bronze to take a spot on the podium. Katie Ledecky joined the fun by becoming the youngest swimmer to win the 800m free, and Cullen Jones was barely beat to the wall by a Frenchmen but won silver.The big man Reese Hoffa, who we'd love to see compete in a bear suit... again, won bronze in the men's shot put to round out a pretty good day for America. Go USA number one big party fun time!In case you were wondering how those badminton sanctions would affect China, they won gold and silver in the mixed doubles events, so not at all. They added gold and bronze in trampoline and bronze in archery.
