Tata Motors Pune plant, a cornerstone of innovation and productivity, is at the heart of the Pimpri-Chinchwad industrial belt in Pune, Maharashtra.
The CV plant manufactures over 480 vehicles daily across various categories in two shifts. What sets this plant apart is its manufacturing capabilities and steadfast commitment to diversity and upskilling.
With about 1,300 women assembling trucks of all categories, the plant has seen a remarkable increase in gender diversity. Two years ago, the percentage of women in the workforce was a mere 2.7%, and today, it stands at 14%.
Taking a stride towards inclusivity, the plant plans to embrace transgender and hearing-impaired individuals to enrich its shopfloor community. The company is piloting some of the initiatives, including considering roping in the third gender.
The company believes women exhibit higher engagement levels, taking pride in their work for an automotive company and being associated with the Tata brand. Women also demonstrate lower attrition rates, highlighting their commitment to the organisation.
Currently, more than 3,500 women technicians work in Commercial Vehicle plants in India, constituting 15% of the total workforce. The company has ambitious goals to elevate this figure to 30% within the next year. Now, the company is opting for an all-female workforce in white-collar positions, and the inclusion of men is considered a deviation.
The Tata Motors Pune plant stands tall as a symbol of progress, seamlessly blending tradition with cutting-edge technology. Today, we invite you on an exclusive journey through its dynamic and impactful legacy.
