The Amazon Sustainable Landscapes Project (ASL Brazil) supports actions that directly and indirectly enhance at least 9 of the 23 targets of the Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) of Kunming-Montreal. The project contributes to biodiversity through integrated land management measures, ranging from support for socio-environmental management of protected areas in the Amazon to other effective conservation measures (OECMs) in buffer zones, fostering connectivity, and the conservation of habitats and species.
ASL Brazil recognizes and values the role of indigenous and traditional communities in maintaining their conserved territories, and supports sustainable natural resource management and local governance strategies, providing economic benefits for these populations, nature conservation, and improvements in the functions and services of ecosystems that contribute to climate regulation.
