[Question] "Why does the Green Card delivery take so long? More than 120
days now.
When I called them, supervisor said need to rev..." And I
don't have the rest of the question.
But unfortunately, USCIS and the Post Office are really unreliable.
One is, it really shouldn't take more than a week or two to
get the Green Card. If it's taking longer than that, there's
issues popping up. And sometimes,
I've seen people take 10 months to get a Green Card.
And most of the time, when they're not getting it, it's already lost
in the mail.
So keep calling them up, see what's going on, but eventually
it might be that you need to apply for a replacement, unfortunately,
to get new one.
It sucks.
But that does happen. Just keep waiting.
If it's really urgent, file for the new one, say it's lost
and you're going to get it in the mail.
Now there was a news report that popped up last week that
there was this postal employee in Salt Lake City, that from
2017 to 2020 was ripping up and destroying and hiding Immigration
documents coming from USCIS through that post office.
So to the USCIS, it looks like they delivered it.
So they say, "Well, it's your fault."
But this horrible horrible person, if it's true as alleged,
was discarding these and destroying people's lives -
not getting their Work Permits, losing the Green Card, costing hundreds
of thousands of dollars for replacements.
It's a nightmare, but that stuff does happen.
So hopefully that's not the case.
Hope you will get it.
But if you didn't get the Green Card for 120 days, there's not much
you can do. Just keep calling up and eventually give up and
then you file for a new one.
In the meantime,
you could if you need to travel, for example, or any proof
for employment, you could request an InfoPass appointment.
Take your passport in to the local field office to get a stamp
that says you have a Green Card.
It's gotten harder and harder to make that request.
They've made it really hard.
But you call the 1-800 number of USCIS and try to schedule a
time to get that done.
See what happens.
