French marines & ruins at Nieuport, Belgium during World War One.



Pan on deserted beach. Shot of small windmill turning. Ruins of tower. Wooden building with pile of sand up against one side, pan left to several marines shovelling more sand onto pile, to protect building from bombs. MS 2 dogs hitched up to small carts and 2 marines wearing greatcoats. Soldier / sailor walking through rubble between ruined houses. More shots of bombed houses, most have frames still partially standing but gaping holes & pieces sticking out at angles. Ruins with train cars alongside, may have been small factory.
