Hope we’ re all ok?
Here’s the last stage in this demonstration of a cottage in the Lakes. As I explain in my commentarty( a wee bit rambling at times🤪) I usually do a demo drawing/ painting in two or three distinct stages: the initial line drawing( in ink, with no pencil), the watercolour wash stage in varying degrees, then the last stage- shown here- when I strengthen the ink lines, add more intense washes, and generally tidy the whole thing up. The next stage is one we all know too well...the fiddling stage, but I,ll resist.
So, in this series of clips, I used my favoured sketchbook...a Seawhite of Brighton A5 watercolour sketchbook ( if anyone wants to purchase one, I have stock which I usually sell at workshops & demos, which aren’t happening at the moment: just send me an email -
john @drawninyorkshire.com and I’ll be happy to help);
the pens are Unipin fineliners 0.1, 0.2 or 0.5; a Copic SP multi liner;
a selection of Daniel Smith watercolour paint... in this demo, the colours were Payne’s grey, quinacrodone gold and sienna, green/ gold, olive green, undersea green, and some cobalt ( in the shadow mix, along with cadmium red).
I hope this helps...if you want to have a go yourself, either screenshot the photo, or drop me an email, & I’ll be happy to send you the original file.
As ever, comments, feedback and suggestions are all very welcome....and before anyone points out the error: I know I refer to a 0.1 pen at the start, but I actually picked up a 0.2, and once I realised, it was too late!
Enjoy the clip, and see you all on the next one.
