Shazam is a DC Comics superhero who first appeared in Whiz Comics #2 in 1940, originally published by Fawcett Comics under the name Captain Marvel. Created by Bill Parker and C.C. Beck, Shazam is the alter ego of Billy Batson, a young boy who transforms into an adult superhero by saying the magic word "Shazam," which grants him the powers of six legendary figures: the sidom of Solomon, the strength of Hercules, the stamina of Atlas, the power of Zeus, the courage of Achilles, and the speed of Mercury.
Shazam is known for his bright, optimistic personality and childlike wonder, contrasting with many darker superheroes. The character has been featured in comics, TV shows, and movies, including the 2019 film Shazam! and it 2023 sequel Shazam! Fury of the Gods.
Full Q&A panel with Zachary Levi and Jack Dylan Grazer recorded live at the Salt Palace Convention Center in downtown Salt Lake City.
