Having recently arrived to take over the station for 2023, Mawson has delivered a warm (not really) welcome with the first blizz (blizzard) day for the 76th ANARE team.
With over 70 knots of wind which was gusting up to 85 knots - the process for getting home to the living quarters from work is certainly an experience!
For safety in this kind of weather, we always travel in pairs wearing appropriate protective gear, as well as radioing in before we leave the building as well as when we get into the next.
