John 14:13 -14 - "And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it."
This verse has been misunderstood as a promise that if we pray for anything “in the name of Jesus,” God will give us what we ask for. This passage has often been quoted by preachers to say that if you are sick and pray to God in the name of Jesus, He will heal you. Many preachers also use this to say that if we want a better job, a promotion, a spouse, or anything else, as long as we ask for it in Jesus’s name, God will give it to us.
Well is that what Jesus meant to tell to his disciples...?
