#TBT
1 year ago today.... The day after my 29th Birthday I got up and went to work as usual. Little did I know, an event would take place that would change the course of my year. Today marks the date that my shoulder was injured. My rotator cuff & bicep were torn.... Its been a wild journey but it's all been apart of where I'm going. 1 year later I stand still recovering from this injury & surgery. I'm still in Physical Therapy, still not able to use my arm at 100%, still not able to dance how I'd like to.... but nothing's gonna stop me! This class was taught on February 13 of this year, the day before my surgery (Valentine's Day). This piece was created out of a place of hurt... hurt that I had not been able to dance consistently due to pain. I dedicated this choreo to my love for dance and how "I wanna give you all!" ...but I couldn't. Should I have been dancing this full out the day before surgery? Probably not... but this goes to show you how far we'll go and push ourselves for something you're truly passionate about. My mindset was "Well they're opening me up tomorrow so if I mess anything else up... Just fix it while you're in there! Lol smh I made the choreo, taught the class and once it was time for me to film it, I realized that I had not done this full out yet. I was freaking out because even though I'd said "Oh they'll fix it tomorrow!" I still didn't want to further the injury. I beat myself about this piece over and over again.... It's not exactly what I created, I couldn't physically do or complete certain motions due to pain. Looking back at this I'm like #ShutUpClarence you could not control what was happening and had already happened. You danced to the best of your ability and as safely as you could. Once I'm fully healed... I will be reteaching this piece! #StayTuned #FlyboiTurns30
