Omar Abdullah was sworn in as the Chief Minister of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The oath-taking ceremony, held at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC), was attended by Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi, and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha administered the oath to Abdullah and his selected cabinet members. However, none of the six elected Congress members took the oath, in protest of the demand for the restoration of statehood. Abdullah had also confirmed that not all ministerial positions would be filled during the ceremony.
