The saga behind making my first indie feature film, "Social Norm" (2016), and how it destroyed me in every way possible.
As a passionate filmmaker, I grew up making home movies with my brother and cousins. We made dozens of comedy sketches as well as no-budget feature films but we had never made a movie with a budget or a crew... So around 2012, I decided to change that...
In this video essay, I wanted to share some of my experiences in making this little indie movie and how it shaped my life forever. Anybody who's ever made an indie feature film might share some of my feelings but I hope this retrospective will not just highlight the struggles, but will also inspire upcoming filmmakers to make their first film.
