The Sri Lankan Navy has arrested 11 boats with 21 fishermen from Tamil Nadu for allegedly fishing in the Sri Lankan waters. According to the Sea Workers Association State Secretary, more than 600 merchandised boats went from Rameshwaram and ventured into the sea. It was then that the Sri Lankan Navy was on rounds and arrested 21 fishermen with their boats. The fishermen have been taken to prison and are in custody. Reportedly, this is an existing issue, with both state and central governments failing to address this. As a result, the livelihood of these fishermen is continuously being affected.
