After being inspired by Fiona Art’s flower dip technique, I had to give it a try... and take some risks with it too. I used two substrates: a regular canvas and a wood cradleboard. It was a fun ride... I hope you’ll enjoy it!

-=- FOR THIS PIECE I USED :
▪️ All DecoArt Americana Paints :
Coral
Cadmium Yellow
Baby Blue
Watermelon Slice
Purple Pizzaz
Sour Apple
Festive Green
I recommend DecoArt Americana paints because they are nicely pigmented, perform beautifully, are readily available and well priced.
A sampler pack of 18 popular colors: [ Ссылка ]
A Premium version of this paint comes in 2.5 oz tubes... here is the Titanium White (as an example): [ Ссылка ]
▪️DecoArt Pouring Medium ...
16 oz: [ Ссылка ]
64 oz: [ Ссылка ]
This is my pouring medium of choice because it mixes very easily into paint, prevents cracking and crazing, and it promotes cells.
(See mixing formula below)
▪️Floetrol (for cost savings): [ Ссылка ]
▪️Blue-tipped squeeze bottles I get from eBay ... they take about 3 weeks to arrive : goo.gl/LMC6Uf
▪️Silicone brush set (great for resin too! )
Set of 6: [ Ссылка ] (shipped immediately by Amazon)
Same set at half the price, but will take a couple of weeks to receive :

-=- PAINT MIXING
- I add roughly 1 part paint to 2 - 3 parts Pouring Medium
(This is my usual formula for thinning all the paint if using Floetrol as well.)
I eyeball amounts because having the same consistency/thickness for each of your mixed paints is more important than the ratios of medium to paint.
ALL of my paints (all the pouring colors as well as whatever negative space color I might use) are mixed to the same consistency using the formula above and adding tiny bits of water as, and IF, needed.
- When adding water, the goal is to get my paint to the consistency of warm honey. The amount of water will depend on the type of acrylic paint ... Flow acrylic (runny like syrup) will need very little water if any, while medium to heavy body paint (thick like toothpaste) will need more. Try to limit the amount of water that you use to under 25% of the amount of paint ... too much water will break down the binding properties of the acrylic paint. Ideally NO water is preferable but adding a little will be ok.

-=- SEALING / VARNISHING
Once my paintings dry, I spray them with a low odor, user-friendly, crystal clear, museum-quality varnish designed for acrylics, oils and watercolors.
It gives a glossy finish: [ Ссылка ]
For a matte/satin finish instead, I use this: [ Ссылка ]
If you prefer to brush on your varnish, I highly recommend Miniwax Polycrylic for its ease of use, high shine and lack of brush marks: [ Ссылка ]
This was done on an 8 x 8 inch canvas and 8 x 8 inch cradle board.
Thank you in advance for watching the videos, sharing them, commenting and leaving a thumbs up. Your kindness helps my channel continue and it is all greatly appreciated! May the alcohol inks, resin, and paints be kind, and may the pours be with you. 😊💕
