Welcome back GLY! It had been more than two weeks since the adult male Royal Albatross returned to the nest site for a feeding visit with Manaaki on August 14. Upon their reunion, Manaaki greeted GLY with excited whistles and bill nibbling. After offering up a few mouthfuls of regurgitated seafare, GLY wandered out of frame and back out to sea to forage.
As nestlings get older, feeding visits from parents may become less frequent, especially as fledging nears. Adults may travel thousands of miles at sea in between feeding visits, and a two-week absence isn't unheard of for parents late in the nestling period.

Royal Cam is a 24-hour live stream of a Northern Royal Albatross nest during the breeding season at Pukekura/Taiaroa Head on the southeast tip of New Zealand's South Island.
This season (2022–23) we are watching a male, GLY (named for his colored leg bands: Green, Lime, Yellow) and female, L (Lime). The fertile egg was laid on the November 4, 2022.
