Geamăna este un sat în comuna Lupșa din județul Alba, Transilvania, România. În urma operațiunilor miniere de la Roșia Poieni, satul a fost transformat în lac de decantare și acoperit de steril, printr-o serie de evenimente cunoscute drept dezastrul natural de la Geamăna.
În anul 1977, Nicolae Ceaușescu a dispus evacuarea celor 1.000 de persoane (400 de familii) care locuiau acolo pentru a depozita deșeurile toxice din mine. În 1978, Regimul Comunist a început să acționeze, oamenilor fiind promis faptul că se vor îmbogăți de pe urma mutării, adevărul fiind că ei au primit o bucată de pământ și foarte puțini bani, pentru a trăi în continuare. De altfel, localnicilor li s-a promis că vor fi mutați la 7 km de vechiul lor sat, în realitate ei fiind duși la aproximativ 100 de km distanță.

Geamăna is a village in Lupșa commune, Alba county, Transylvania, Romania. Following the mining operations at Roșia Poieni, the village was transformed into a tailings pond and covered with tailings, through a series of events known as the Geamăna natural disaster.
In 1977, Nicolae Ceaușescu ordered the evacuation of the 1,000 people (400 families) who lived there to store the toxic waste from the mines. In 1978, the Communist Regime began to act, people were promised that they would get rich from the move, the truth being that they were given a piece of land and very little money to live on. Moreover, the locals were promised that they would be moved 7 km from their old village, when in reality they were taken about 100 km away.
Currently, the place has become a lake that grows between 90 and 100 centimeters per year. All water is divided into 3 zones: a muddy zone, where the pipes release all harmful substances, a turquoise water zone and a red water zone.
