On Friday, hundreds of opposition supporters and civil society activists gathered in Dakar's central square to oppose President Macky Sall's possible third-term ambition.
Sall has neither confirmed nor denied that he intends to run. In March, he informed a French newspaper that he could run since the new constitution reset the clock on his number of mandates.
The opposition is now accusing Sall's government of exploiting the court system to target possible opponents, including Ousmane Sonko, the third-place finisher in the 2019 presidential election.
