Pakistan's former Prime Minister and Chairman PTI Imran Khan's statement regarding the 'merit appointment' of the Army Chief and the reaction given by the Pakistani Army is currently a topic of discussion in Pakistan.
Imran Khan is holding rallies in different cities of the country every day, in which he seems to be demanding immediate elections besides criticizing the current government.
However, while addressing a public meeting in Faisalabad on Sunday, Imran Khan said regarding the appointment of the army chief in November, "Asif Zaradri and Nawaz Sharif want to bring their favorite army chief in November."
Talking more about this, he said that they want to bring their army chief because they have stolen money.
They are afraid that a tyrannical army chief has come here, a patriotic army chief has come and will ask him, so they will appoint their army chief together out of fear.
Imran Khan further said that the one who has the most merit should become the army chief. Nobody's favorite army chief should be, nobody's favourite.
The next day, in response to this statement, ISPR issued a statement saying that during a political rally in Pakistan Army in Faisalabad, the Chairman PTI said 'about the senior leadership of the Pakistan Army. I am deeply outraged by the defamatory and unnecessary statement.'
