CINCINNATI (WKRC) - Two Cincinnati City Council members toured the District 5 police headquarters on Dec. 7 after a number of complaints about the conditions inside.
Those complaints include bedbugs, mold, poor air quality and cramped conditions. Council members Wendell Young and Charlie Winburn toured the building on Ludlow Ave. with Sgt. Dan Hils.
Young was an officer thirty years ago there. He said it was bad then but he was shocked at how bad it is there today.
Hils would like to be able to move the officers into a temporary home in three months. Then the question would be should there be a new building or upgrade the current one. District 3 got a new headquarters recently. Hils hopes the same could happen in District 5.
A memo from City Manager Harry Black to city council members says environmental, mold and radon testing are being performed on the building. Preliminary observations find no asbestos, radon or obvious signs of mold but samples still have to be analyzed.
