Nato jets flew over frontline positions in Sarajevo on Wednesday
(19/4) after a fierce firefight on Tuesday evening in the city's
southwestern suburbs. Two US F-16s flew over the frontline positions which separate government forces in Hrasnica from Bosnian Serb fighters in Ilidza. In another development, a u.n. plane was shot at while coming in to land at Sarajevo airport on Wednesday afternoon. The incident followed a warning from the Bosnian Serbs that they cannot guarantee the safety of any U.N. flights carrying civilians. U.N. officials said they would test the Serb defiance, and would suspend all flights if the Serbs did not back down. In reaction, the Bosnian prime minister, Haris Silajdzic condemned the international community for considering the possibility that Bosnian civilians may not be permitted to use the airport. Silajdzic, chairing a meeting of the Bosnian government, said the question over the airport is the ultimate humiliation in a series of humiliations for the West over the last three years.

Bosnian PM Haris Silajdic sot: saying he is deeply disturbed by
international community and unprofor - i don't know who, discusses
the possibility of stopping Bosnian nationals from their own
airportl. That is again the UN charter, the agreement on the
airport and I think that is giving in to the pressure of the Serbs
- it will only encourage those Serbs from Pale - not Serbs in
Sarajevo, -and giving them the green light for further pressures
