Prince Rama Varma faced the challenge of engaging a huge and mixed group of students with the Veena, at the Temple of Fine Arts, Kuala Lumpur, in March 2020. Some of the students were veena students who had brought their veena along, some were veena students who had come without their instrument, others were vocal students and yet others were Hindustani students. The youngest would have been around 5 years old and the oldest, in their 70s! But Varma ji presented an evening filled with singing, veena playing, demonstration of fingering techniques, universally applicable musical insights and of course, loads of smiles and laughter, delighting the blessed group who had gathered there.
