The 2018 Den Carter Trophy held at the popular Spaxton track by the Bridgwater & District Motor Club always gets some good racing, and this meeting did exactly that. The racing in the 350cc Solo's was right out of the top draw, with really close battles all day, with Wayne Broadhurst, Mark Taylor, Liam Ashcroft, and Barry Powell putting on some superb racing. In the 250cc Solo's it looked to be British Champion Henry Atkins was definitely the man to beat, but also riding in the 500cc class, would this take it's toll on the young star? With Tim Greig and Adam Hawker in close attendance, Atkins would not be able to make any mistakes.
Up against Atkins in the 500cc class was another rising star in the shape of Aaron Butcher and also Josh Dingle in his first grasstrack of 2018. A good line-up of RH Sidecars, with Neal Owen/Jason Farwell, Joe Mogg/Jake Cutler, local crew Simon Heal/Rowland Broomfield, and crew of the season so far Kieran Hicks/Kizz Ivy. Could the young guns beat the more experienced crews?
As always at the Bridgwater events, a good amount of Youth riders on display, and it's hard to believe some of these little flyers are only 6 years old. With Quads as well, this was a really good grasstrack, and the club deserve to get more support from spectators in future events, as it's always a great day out and run by grasstrackers, for grasstrack fans.
