According to the UK governments updated guidance publish on 16 December 2021, for employee right to work checks that will come into effect in April 2022. Commencing 5 April 2022, physical biometric cards will no longer be acknowledged for right to work checks. In its place, employers will be required to carry out an online right to work check. Presently, the online service can support the following categories

Biometric residence card holders;

Biometric residence permit holders;

Individuals with status issued under the EU Settlement Scheme;

Individuals holding a digital Certificate of Application to the EU Settlement Scheme provided on or before 30 June 2021;

Individuals with a status allotted under the point-based immigration system;

British National Overseas (BNO) visa holders; or

Frontier workers permit holders
