Marcus Aurelius married Faustina the younger in April of 145 AD. Marcus was Antoninus Pius’ son via adoption, which meant that he was marrying his sister according to roman law. Pius would have had to legally release one of them from his paternal authority (his patria potestas) for the wedding to take place. Although not much is known about the event itself, it was said to have been noteworthy.
