Hey, all. I normally post original music - or music-related stuff - to my "channel." But this time it's my wife talking, and offering her CV19 mask pattern.

First, ask whomever you are making masks for if they have special requirements! When I asked local medical facilities, one requested a size that would fit over the N95 masks they were already wearing – to make them last longer. Their requirements were for masks that:
1. would completely cover the N95,
2. be lightweight, because its already hard to breathe through the N95 – so no extra filters –
3. if possible, came in designs for men and women,
4. and can be machine washed and dried.
I tried many of the available patterns, and none fit over the N95 – or were too loose at the sides. After several prototypes, I came up with something that does the trick.

I am slow, so it probably took me 20 min to make one, But I stopped and started and worked in production-line stages – cut them all out, sewed front seams, etc. It took 3 days to make 35.
I hope this helps!
1. Cut out 2 outer and 2 lining pieces. I think it is easier if the right sides are together. I made mine reversible.
2. I find it helpful to make a mark at the top of the fabric marking the top.
3. Sew the front edges, using 1/4” seam allowance. Press.
4. Sew the outer and lining pieces matching the top seam and sew 1/4”. Press.
5. Turn inside out and take wire (I used garbage bag ties) and place in center at top. (This will make mask fit well around the nose.)
6. Turn to wrong sides together and put 3 pins in to hold wire next to seam.
7. Top stitch 3/8” along seam and backstitch at front and back of wire to keep it in place.
8. Turn right sides together and stitch bottom 1/4”. Press.
9. Turn inside out and topstitch.
10. You can use elastic – if you have it! – or make your own. I’m trying to use material I had so I don't have to go out, and I already had double-folded bias tape. I used 35” of tape for each side, with tape centered at the middle of the mask side and double-stitched.
