Amazon suspended my account not too long ago and it has been a rather educational experience. I was able to get my account back but it was not that easy. If this happened to you, there is a way to get it back. The Amazon appeal process is not complicated but it will take some of your time to get it right. Here is what you need to do:
1. Start digging. The automated email that you get in which you are informed that you were suspended only contains some bogus generic information. The actual reason why you were suspended is not disclosed. Do not call their support line to ask why you were suspended because they will not tell you. What you must do is to inspect your account. Look at your listings, feedback from users, complaints, etc. If you did something wrong, you should be able to find it. If you exactly what you did to earn your suspension, move to next point.
2. Write an appeal letter. The Amazon appeal form has a large text bracket area in which you are supposed to write your appeal letter. Begin by stating the issue which is your suspension. Write the reason you were suspended but be clear and concise about it. Take responsibility for your wrongdoings and come up with an action plan. Make a clear statement on what you will do to prevent the same thing from happening in the future. Showing a clear commitment to customer service is always a plus for Amazon.
That is it! There is no step 3. It sounds simple and it is but it can take some time to get the Amazon appeal letter ready. Amazon will reinstate your account if it is a minor offense or if it is your first time getting a suspension. Under no circumstance, you should open a new account. This will get you permanently banned by Amazon. If you get banned, there is nearly impossible to get your account back. Have patience, appeal your suspension, wait for a response and reply promptly if an Amazon support representative requests more information. It can take a few days to hear back after you submit your Amazon appeal letter.
