For this edition of 'Impromptu Wine Review' we have guest reviewer Felix Riley of importer / distributor Felixir talking the 2013 Passopisciaro 'Passorosso' (100% Nerello Mascalese), Mt Etna, Sicily.
Personally, I had the pleasure of consuming this wine over a 10 hour period after initially decanting back to bottle. On the nose the wine shows dark cherry, dried herb and rose petal with plenty of aromatic lift. The palate surprises with weight much like a Nebbiolo. The roundness comes from dark cherry with grippy fine tannin and an acidic austerity keeping the palate roundness in check. This wine will evolve nicely over coming years. Enjoy!!
