ABOUT THE GURU - VID SRI RAGHUNANDAN S
A performer of high calibre, a creative choreographer and a dedicated teacher, Shri Raghu Nandan S. is an artist devoted to the field of Bharatanatyam and proudly continues the legacy passed down from his grandfather Natyacharya Guru H R Keshava Murthy (Central S. N. A. awardee) and father, Karnataka Kalashree Guru Shri B K Shyam Prakash.
• Awarded with “Bharatashree” title (Hubli, Karnataka), Best “Abhinaya classical dancer” award (Eluru, Andhra Pradesh) and “Godavari Sanman” (Khajuraho, Mandhya Pradesh).
• He is also an auditioned artist of Doordarshan. And is UGC NET qualified in dance
• He holds a degree of Master of Fine Arts in Bharatanatyam with distinction and Vidwath (KSEEB) in Bharatanatyam, with gold medal.
• He holds a distinction in Mridangam (KSEEB) and is often invited as a guest Natuvanaar. He also holds a Degree of Bachelors in Telecommunication and Engineering and is also an I.T professional
ABOUT MYSELF-
Samhita K, daughter of Smt. Sharvani Kumar and Shri. S Kumaraswamy was born in a family of art lovers. Growing up in a cultural environment, she was introduced to the divine field of music and dance at a very young age by her parents. She did her initial schooling at Sri Vani Public School, Rajajinagar which planted the sapling of values for the Indian culture in her.
After the basic training in Bharatanatyam, she decided to take up intensive and advance training in Bharatanatyam. She is the disciple of Guru Shri Raghunandan S and is being trained under his able guidance at Abhivyakti Dance Centre. Under his guidance, Samhita has also successfully completed her senior KSEEB exam in Bharatanatyam and has got several opportunities to perform at state and national level in group as well as solo.
She is also being trained in Odissi under the tutelage of Guru Smt Manasi Raghunandan, and is pursuing her diploma in Odissi.
Under the banner of the performing wing of Abhivyakti, Samhita has participated in several festivals of national and international repute. She has also attended major dance workshops organized by the institution.
She could also bag the opportunity of performing in major cities such as: Ottapalam, Bhubaneswar, Khajuraho, Vellore and few other cities under the guidance of her Gurus Sri Raghunandan and Smt Manasi Raghunandan. She has also been given an opportunity to perform at the Nataraja Nrithyotsava 2015 in Mysore.
Apart from classical dance forms, Ms.Samhita is also a trained carnatic vocalist. She is currently being trained by her mother Smt. Sharvani Kumar, Guru Smt H N Meera and Guru Smt Shantha Narasimhan. Recently she also gave her debut performance as a vocalist in a Bharatanatyam Rangapravesha presented by a student of Abhivyakti Dance Centre.
