As Government seeks to implement the compulsory acquisition of land in the hands of private owners, it plans to introduce an objective process of compensation. During a news conference at the media centre addressed by the Lands minister Betty Amongi, one of the proposals allows a government valuer to deposit funds in court as the mediation process between the owner and government ensues. The lands ministry also announced a ban on leasing government land for three months as it establishes an inventory.
