What is better than operating your ham radio from 12,162'? Nothing, that's what. I made contact on 146.520 simplex with AD0KE during his SOTA activation of St. Vrain Mountain northwest of Denver. Wayne's elevation was 12,162' while my home QTH is located at 5400' ASL. Wayne was using a Yaesu FT1DR running 5 watts of power.
