And coming soon: The Ogrynomicon, the ultimate guide to the new and improved Ogryn! Subscribe to keep an eye on my channel and be the first to know.
The existing subclass for the Ogryn, the Skullbreaker, has been adapted into the new skill tree in exciting fashion and with several notable upgrades. This build is represented by the first branch, which goes down the left side of the tree and is all about smashing heretics to pieces with powerful heavy attacks, sporting such upgrades as...
- The Blitz: Big Friendly Rock, which is exactly what it says on the tin: a piece of stone rubble that the Ogryn has simply picked up and stuffed into his pocket. It doesn't explode in any way, but the Skullbreaker throws these rocks with enough enthousiasm to kill most unarmored targets in one hit -- up to and including Mutants. With a carrying capacity of four that automatically replenish over time, we can truly say that this blitz ROCKS.
- The Ability: Indomitable, a direct upgrade to the Ogryn's default Bull Rush ability that doubles the charge distance and allows you to barrel straight through enemy Ogryns. Can be further upgraded to restore toughness per enemy hit, and to apply bleed to everything you trampled or provide stacks of bonus damage based on how many enemies you smashed through. A classic ability that is now better than ever.
- The Aura: Bonebreaker's Aura, +10% heavy melee attack damage for you and your allies in coherency. An upgraded version of the default Intimidating Presence aura. You and your mates krump 'arder. Simple as.
- The Keystone: Heavy Hitter, a passive that gives you up to 5 stacks of +5% bonus melee damage upon hitting an enemy with... well, a heavy attack, as the name implies. Can be further upgraded to provide bonus attack speed, give additional toughness from killing enemies, and letting light attacks refresh the stack duration. This upgrade is instrumental in turning your heavy attacks into the force of nature they were always meant to be. Break skulls, crush ribcages and snap bones with every augmented swing.
... and many other talents and stat nodes besides. I highlighted the ones I used in this Shovel build at the start of the video.
Additionally, the Latrine Shovel received a series of buffs this patch that unchained its true potential. With extra damage and uncapped cleave on its light and sweeping heavy attacks, the Shovel now pairs beautifully with the reworked Brutal Momentum to decapitate several enemies at once with each formidable swing, while Thrust gives you the power necessary to hit important oneshot breakpoints. Built like this, the Shovel is now a true jack-of-all-trades that many Ogryn players will come to love even more.
The Rumbler also received buffs to its damage output, letting you kill groups of lesser enemies and kill pesky Specialists even on Damnation, and its Adhesive Charge blessing now sticks to enemy Ogryns as well as Monstrosities. While also incredibly powerful on a Gunlugger build, it works beautifully in any loadout and brings a potent combination of crowd control and firepower. You can never have too many explosions.
