Dr. Sean McFate is a Professor of Strategic Studies at National Defense University and author of “The Modern Mercenary” and “The New Rules Of War”, along with “High Treason” and “Deep Black” in the fictional Tom Locke novel series.
Dr. McFate is a strategist and expert on international relations. He is a Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council, a Washington DC think tank, and a professor at: Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service, Syracuse University's Maxwell School, and the National Defense University’s College of International Security Affairs.
Dr. McFate is one of the world's leading experts on mercenaries and the future of war. He advises the Pentagon, CIA, Hollywood, and gaming industry, and has appeared on all major news networks. His writing has also appeared in the New York Times, Washington Post, and Wall Street Journal, and he has been interviewed on the Cable News Network, Fox News, MSNBC, British Broadcasting Corporation, Sky News, Australian Broadcasting Corporation, National Public Radio, Vice on Home Box Office, and The Discovery Channel.
Dr. McFate holds a B.A. from Brown University, a M.P.P. from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, and a Ph.D. in international relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science. He was a Fellow at Pembroke College, University of Oxford.
