Synergies in the governance of climate change and plastics in the context of the triple planetary crisis.

Climate change and plastics are inherently interlinked, demanding coordinated, and sustainable multilateral efforts to effectively address these issues in the context of the triple planetary crisis. This side-event aims to initiate a dialogue and increase awareness among Member States and stakeholders on how existing multilateral environmental agreements such as the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions could cooperate with the global plastics instrument, which is presently undergoing intergovernmental negotiation. The event aims at providing streamlined actions towards achieving pollution reduction and climate goals.
