Biomedical Engineer Kevin Foglyano works with individuals living with lower extremity paralysis to restore movement and function through the use of electrical stimulation of the affected nerves and muscles. Foglyano employs cycling as a vehicle for this work, placing surface stimulation electrodes over the muscles of the legs which are controlled by a tablet. This allows the user to contract their paralyzed muscles so they can move their legs and operate the cycle.
