The history of Albergues is interesting and the feeling of charity and giving back is part of this, where the Hospitaleros (the people who run the Albergues) give back to the Pilgrim's, and the Pilgrim's give back, often times with volunteering to clean or cook or even returning at a different time and volunteering their time working at the Albergue.
