In this video, I demonstrate how I carve and tool my Sunflower Spur Strap pattern. I explain the tools that I use, how I use them, and the importance of proper technique. This is a great beginner project because it only requires leather, stamping tools, and rivets to attach the spur strap buckles. No stitching required!

If you are not lining these spur straps, I would recommend using 9-10 or 10-11 oz. veg tan leather.

If you are planning to line these spur straps, I would recommend increasing the border width on the pattern to allow for a stitch line and suggest 7-8 oz. leather with a 3-4 oz. liner (or a combination of leather that is 10-12 oz. in total thickness).
