Backwards J
I hang on the tree, a curve in the glow,
A backwards ‘J’ for the love I show.
A shepherd’s crook, a guiding hand,
To lead you to hope in this holy land.
Oh, I’m the candy cane, here to stay,
A symbol of love in my backwards ‘J.’
Red for the blood, white for the grace,
A gift of hope in this sacred place.
I’m simple and sweet, but I hold the truth,
Of mercy and love that renews our youth.
Even when I break, my sweetness stays,
A sign of love that never fades.
Oh, I’m the candy cane, here to stay,
A symbol of love in my backwards ‘J.’
Red for the blood, white for the grace,
A gift of hope in this sacred place.
Love bends low, it pulls you close,
Even when you feel far, it knows.
The curve of the crook, the sweetest sign,
That love protects and holds the line.
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Your love lights the way,
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, born on Christmas Day.
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, You’re my Rock, my King,
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, to You I’ll forever sing.
Oh, I’m the candy cane, here to stay,
A symbol of love in my backwards ‘J.’
Red for the blood, white for the grace,
A gift of hope in this sacred place.
So let me hang, a sign to see,
That love was born for you and me.
A backwards ‘J,’ but it points the way,
To the King of love on Christmas Day.
