Roombas and robotic vacuums are good at cleaning floors, but can they be converted with the help of 3D printing to move on water and clean pools? This is the question I’ve been pondering for a while. I picked up a cheap Roomba lookalike robot vacuum and built it into a pool skimming, debris eating robot with a personality.
Printed on Creality CR-10, Ender 3 Pro and LD-002R 3D printers using 3D Fillies PLA+ with 0.6 mm nozzle at 0.36 mm layer height (CR-10) for the big parts and with 0.4 mm nozzle at 0.2 layer height (Ender 3) for the smaller parts. Parts design and modification was done by me in DesignSpark Mechanical. Shot on Canon EOS M50, 360 video footage shot on Insta360 One R and DJI Mavic Mini for the aerial shots.
