************** START of RECIPE **************
Kadappa is the side dish made with moong dal, potatoes and coconut paste
Pressure cook 3 tbsp moong dal and 2 potatoes till soft and keep it ready.
In a pan, add oil, mustard seeds, 2 cloves, 1-inch piece cinnamon, sauté. Add sliced onion and 3 green chilies, a tsp of ginger garlic paste, sauté well. Add mashed potatoes, moong dal, add very little water, turmeric, salt. Mix well. Keep on low flame. Bring it to boil.
Meanwhile, in a mixer jar, add around 4 tbsp grated coconut, fennel seeds, poppy seeds, 2 green chilies. Make a paste with little water.
Once the moong dal starts boiling, add the coconut paste, adjust kadappa consistency by adding water. Allow it to boil for 3 minutes. Garnish with coriander and curry leaves.
Can be served with idli, dosai, poori, rice or chapathi.
