"Japan has so far provided humanitarian support of about 80 million dollars to the Syrian crisis, through NGO's in various international organisations. And 30 million out of those 80 million dollars have been to Jordan, supporting them in receiving Syrian refugees. Upon my visit again, as I said, we realised again all the needs and the increase of the demands for such support, so we will continue to ruminate seriously upon further steps that we could take to support Jordan."

STORYLINE
Japanese Senior Parliamentary Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shunichi Suzuki, visited the Zaatari camp for Syrian refugees on Sunday.
Suzuki met with representatives of UN humanitarian agencies and visited facilities supported by Japan Emergency NGO.
"We as the government of Japan are of course seriously considering this Syrian crisis and we are aware how serious the situation is getting. And upon my visit this time to the Zaatari camp, we just realised again the increase of the demands and needs for such humanitarian support," said Suzuki.
Japan has donated around 80 million US dollars to support the Syrian refugees in the region.
According to Jordanian officials, Jordan hosts more than 530-thousand Syrian refugees since the crisis began, around 150-thousand live in Zaatari camp.
A recent UNHCR report said the number of refugees has swelled dramatically this year, with most Syrians pouring into Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey, Iraq and Egypt.
More than 400-thousand people have become refugees since January 1. Around half are children; the majority under the age of eleven.
