Apocalpyse - an event involving destruction or damage on an awesome or catastrophic scale
Apokalupsis - from apokaluptein 'uncover, reveal', from apo- 'un-' + kaluptein 'to cover'.
Why does God use apocalyptic literature? To get our attention.
Who is it for? Those preoccuptied with the immediacy of their misfortunes.
How do we use it? It is meant to be experienced, not analyzed.
