(22 Jun 2014) MISSONI PRESENTS NEW MENSWEAR COLLECTION IN MILAN
Angela Missoni presented her new menswear collection in Milan Sunday. The designer says this time she's going for a variation of one of her favorite themes. "This season, I'm still following my surfer boys, but this time in southern Europe toward the coast of Africa. So you'll find always a very relaxed man."
The collection is inspired by a mix of cultures from southern Europe to North Africa. Missoni says she went to the traditional Arabic marketplace - called the souk - for inspiration in the palate. "In the colors you will find influence from the 'souk,' from saffron, lavender, all the spices, but very strong colors together like admiral then blues, from the sea."
Missoni also imagines the type of man who will wear her new collection. "He is a traveler, so he does travel all around the world and he takes back souvenirs from all the world, but especially travelling through the coast of northern Africa this season."
The Missoni family has been continuing to design new collections in spite of the death of the fashion house's founder last year.
