My advice to beginners researching how to start selling on Amazon FBA is to start today! Starting to sell on Amazon is easy and you can try it with just a single unit.
By sourcing a single sample product using Alibaba that you can sell on Amazon via the FBA model, you will benefit by experiencing the entire FBA process. This will give you a great understanding of how to sell on Amazon and provide you with knowledge and assurance that will help make your first private label product successful.
If you are a beginner hoping to make money on Amazon in 2019 I would recommend following the below steps before launching your first product:
1) Setup a Ltd Company & Open a Bank Account – It can take a few weeks to setup a Ltd company and open a business bank account so I would recommend making this your first step. If you are unsure about Amazon you can start as a sole trader and use your personal bank account, however, keep in mind it is quite tricky changing your Amazon account at a later date so it is better to be Ltd from the beginning.
2) Open a Seller Central Account – It is important that you learn how to use Amazon Seller Central, it is the platform you are going to be using for your business so try it out as soon as possible.
3) Order a Sample – This will give you experience of finding suppliers on Alibaba and also help you develop an email that you can re-use for future enquiries (a free Alibaba supplier approach email template is available from the resource section on www.fbaelite.com)
4) Barcode – You can purchase a GS1 Barcode for your private label product or apply for a GTIN exemption, either way it will help answer many of the questions you have about barcodes and where to use them.
5) Create Listing – Treat this like a proper listing, carry out the relevant keyword research and optimise the listing title, description, bullet points and backend keywords. This is also a great way of finding out whether a product is restricted before placing your main order.
6) Create a Shipment – Get the sample product sent to your address and then use Seller Central to create a shipping plan so you can send it to an Amazon fulfilment centre. This will give you a good understanding of how to create shipping plans and how shipping barcode labels work.
7) Setup PPC Campaigns – Try creating manual keyword & product targeting campaigns, these are the best PPC campaigns to use and will provide you with the knowledge for future campaigns.
8) Create Removal Orders – If your sample product does not sell you can create a removal order to either have the product returned or destroyed.
Having completed the FBA process you will no longer be a complete beginner and you will be in an excellent position to make money on Amazon. !
