Question: What is Geoff's feelings on hydroponic systems with fish in tanks.
- Designs ideally have the hydroponic effect of ponds flowing into beds.
- The infrastructure costs, maintenance, lack of soil production, feed and energy required makes completely contained systems unsustainable in the end.
- Aquaponic systems (with fish), rather than hydroponic (with chemicals), do produce high quality food in small spaces.
- The inclusion of soil media is more sustainable and can have a positive carbon footprint.
