Starting this episode, let's go Puerto Maldonado, the part of Peruvian amazon which is closed to Cusco. It will be my first time living in the Amazon jungle. I joined a 4-day tour which include food, lodging, transportation and tour guide from Puerto Maldonado. More info will be presented in my upcoming video.

My tour guide picked me up from the airport in the morning. Then we took a boat to the lodge which was provided by them. The first day we didn't do much. We just walked the trail at the back of the lodge 2 times (day and night) and visited the Monkey island. It's more likely for me to adapt the weather in the amazon jungle.

This video was filmed in late October, 2021. The weather was not extremely hot but due to the humidity and lack of breezy, I felt like I was being slow cooked. There's heavy rain sometimes but only when we were resting, so I'm very thankful.

Since I had a room rented in Cusco, I left most of my stuff there and traveled to Puerto Maldonado with a small backpack. In the coming video, I will show you what I packed. As you can see the pier is not well built, it's better to travel light.

Puerto Maldonado is not as popular as Iquitos for the purpose of visiting the amazon. I hope by sharing my experience, it can give you an idea which one your prefer.
