Pravasi Dividend Scheme – Life long pension (Part II)
This is a onetime investment scheme. Any amount in multiples of lakhs between Rs. 3 lakh and 51 lakh can be done as a one-time investment.
The applicant of the Scheme shall be a Non-Resident Keralite as defined in the Kerala Non-Resident Keralite’ Welfare Act, 2008.
This is different from the pension scheme where one pays a monthly contribution.
No return for the first three years. The invested amount will only be returned after the demise of the invested person and his life partner.
The contribution once made is irrevocable and cannot be withdrawn. A refund shall not be made by the Board under any circumstances.
For category2A Proof of working in other states has to be submitted.
Can have more than one nominee.
The dividend is calculated based on the amount invested plus the interest accrued for the first three years and dividends will be provided from the fourth year at the rate of 10% of the interested amount.
NRI’s of Kerala origin is only eligible to avail the benefits of this dividend scheme.
The applicant shall not be an employee of the Central Government, State Government, Local Self Government, and Public Sector Undertakings.
The dividend certificate is non-transferable, non-assignable, and non-negotiable.
The Dividend will be paid to the direct credit of the bank account through electronic mode only.
The Dividend will be paid on the first week of every calendar month. The payment will be subject to deduction of tax at source under the Income Tax Act, and other deductions as applicable from time to time.
The demise of the beneficiary (member)/spouse as the case may be, shall be reported to the Board immediately along with the certificate from the authority concerned.
In case the registered nominee is not available for payment, the amount will be given to the legal heirs of the beneficiary through equal division.
Government of Kerala/the Board reserves all the rights to amend the terms and conditions of the Scheme from time to time in compliance of para 9 (1) and (2) of the Scheme and such amendments shall be applicable as if contained herein.
All the disputes with regards to the Pravasi Dividend Scheme 2019 will be dealt with at Thiruvananthapuram.
